Eu..."The eraser" est peut-être finalement le nom du nouveau Lp ( bon ça collerait peut-être pas avec les derniers artworks...), ou alors c'est une sorte de nouveau "radiohead tv" ou encore ils ont peut-être repris le systeme des blips...

its called The Eraser.
nigel produced & arranged it .
i wrote and played it.
the elements have been kicking round now for a few years and needed to be finished & i have been itching to do something like this for ages.
it was fun and quick to do.
inevitably it is more beats & electronics.
but its songs.
stanley did the cover.
yes its a record!
no its not a radiohead record.
as you know the band are now touring and writing new stuff and getting to a good space so i want no crap about me being a traitor or whatever splitting up blah blah...
this was all done with their blessing. and i don't wanna hear that word solo. doesnt sound right.
ok then thats that.
i think its out in july and im pretty certain XL are going to put it out.

Mais Thom le dit bien dans son message, ce n'est pas un album solo c'est juste un travail perso!Peut-être des idées de chansons pour le nouvel album de radiohead qui n'ont pas abouties...ou des chansons qui trainaient depuis un moment dans la tête de notre Thom National (Anthem... pardon pour la blague...ah?c'est même pas une blague? :( )

It was produced by Radiohead bosom buddy Nigel Godrich, and features the following songs (yes, they're all supposed to be lower case):

06 atoms for peace
07 and it rained all night

Various sources, including Billboard.com, report that the track "black swan" will play over the closing credits of Richard Linklater's new movie A Scanner Darkly. You know, the one with the animated images of Keanu Reeves and Winona Ryder playing characters in a Philip K. Dick novel.
As you probably already know (because we keep breathlessly telling you), Radiohead are on tour right now. The band canceled a show at Amsterdam's Heineken Music Hall this past Wednesday, due to the death of drummer Phil Selway's mother. The concert has been rescheduled for August 28.
The press release for Yorke's album states, "At the end of the tour Radiohead will resume work on their new album, due for release next year." Nice.

d'ailleurs quand on parle de rabbit in you headlights, on parle de DJ-Shadow évidemment (présent à rock en seine par ailleurs), mais qui est Unkle ?

Unkle a été crée à la base par James Lavelle - créateur et patron du label anglais Mo'Wax - avec un principe : mélanger les sonorités abstract hip hop chères au label (qui a vu les sorties des premiers Dj Shadow justement) et y insuffler un peu de la pop ... cependant Lavelle étant un type apparrement plein d'enthousiasme et au carnet d'adresses bien rempli mais pas super-top doué artistiquement parlant ... Celui - ci fit appel à Shadow pour produire le 1er album d'Unkle "Psyence Fiction" , petite perle qui brasse hiphop rock psyché, avec en guests Thom Yorke-rabbit in yr ..., Badly Drawn Boy, Mike D des B.Boys , Richard Ashcroft .... bref un disk somptueux considéré à juste titre comme le 2ème album de Shadow , Lavelle étant quasiment inexistant niveau composition . Le disque n'a pas eu un impact commercial des + retentissants, en tout cas loin des ambitions de Lavelle mais artistiquement le disque aura marké son époque et il vieillit plutot très bien je trouve.
Ds la foulée , littéralement saoulé par Lavelle et son égo qd meme un rien exagéré, Shadow s'est cassé du projet ... bien lui en a pris.
Lavelle étant propriétaire du nom et du concept , il a continué en proposant quelques remix par ci par là , tous franchement dispensables, n'est pas DJ Shadow qui veut.
Il s'est meme permis de sortir un 2ème album d'Unkle : meme concept on invite plein de gens on fait monter le buzz mais oootch sté pas terrible... kkes invités triés sur le volet (3D de M.Attack , Josh Homme des Queens of the stone age ...) mais un disk très moyen , espece d'ersatz de new wave rock electro dark .... mouais...
au final Lavelle s'est cassé la gueule tout seul, il est qd meme pas mal grillé , se mettant à dos pas mal d'artistes et faisant littéralement couler son propre label Mo'Wax qui n'existe plus vraiment.

Tout ça me fait penser dans la categorie "rêvons un peu" qu'à rock en seine, si dj shadow passe le même jour que radiohead...on aura peut-être thom qui passera sur scéne faire coucou et nous fera un petit "rabbit..."

Radiohead ne l'a jamais joué - enfin je crois - qd à Shadow il le jouait régulièrment ds ses concerts mais en gardant l'instru et en modifiant les voix parcke thom l'était pas là a chak concert ... maintenant pas impossible qu'il l'ait déja joué sur scène ensemble. qd à rock en seine , shadow vient defendre un nouvel album et a indiqué ke ses lives n'auraient plus rien à voir avec ce qu'il a proposé précedemment , cad quil ne joueraiut pas tout ses tubes donc a priori ca sent pas le duo mais pourkoi pas ce srait mortel qd meme. putain elles sont longues mes phrases jen ai mal aux doitgts.fingaz.

bah ouai le coup de l'album solo ça fait un peu "je commence ma carrière solo" alors que là c'est plus un projet annexe, une sorte de gorillaz tout seul? :p en tout cas le fait que l'album soit très électro m'interesse ^^ surtout quand on imagine que l'intro est en fait cymabal rush (merci hunting)... alors là on comprend que ça peut être démentiel ^^

£13.99,ça fait plus de 20€ quand même...Je ne veux pas passer pour un radin,au contraire jadore acheter des cd's originaux et jachèterai surement cet album,mais bon...
Après on se plaint pour le téléchargment abusif,mais si les maisons de disques ne font pas d'effort non plus!Quand je vois le prix de certains disques, c'est décourageant!Ok Computer,10ans bientôt qu'il est sur le marché,je l'ai vu à 22€, et l'album blanc des Beatles à 36!Je trouve cela excessif...
Enfin je m'emporte un peu,c'est peut-être le prix pour ceux qui veulent l'avoir en avant-première...
Je me dis aussi que The Eraser a un bien meilleur rapport qualité/prix à 20€ quand la star ac' est à 16€ :huhu:

LA Times' Calendar Live have a story on Thom Yorke's new album The Eraser, talking with Kris Chen, senior vice president of artists & repertoire for XL Recordings: "It really did take everybody by surprise."
Radiohead's management brokered a deal in late January/early February with the indie label, home to acts including Devendra Banhart, the White Stripes and Dizzee Rascal. "Everybody involved was able to keep it under wraps for a while," says Chen.
Since the announcement, some fans have grown dismayed at the idea of pop's most inscrutable poet of ennui releasing what some fear might be an indulgent electronica album. Chen, however, is at pains to banish the notion.
"Contrary to what some people are posting on bulletin boards, it's not 'Thom's techno record,' " he says. "It is well-composed, beautifully thought-out and song-based. Thom's voice and lyrics are unmistakable. That said, it's not as if you're going to hear the more guitar-based angle of, say, 'The Bends.' "
One of Yorke's new songs, "Black Swan," will play over the closing credits in Richard Linklater's animated sci-fi film, "A Scanner Darkly," which hits theaters in July.
Until then, Yorke completists can stay current via the album's interactive — and spookily atmospheric — website, theeraser.net.
"That's crucial in keeping up the dialogue with Thom's fans — there's an invitation to keep coming back," Chen says. "Since the site launched last week, it's gone through changes every day. We're trying to get music across to people outside the tried-and-true norm."

The Clock m'a laissé moins sur le cul que les 2 autres.. Je sais pas pourquoi, j'entendais son piano arrivé dans ma tête, exactement comme la perfection l'entendait (oui d'accord j'élève mon imagination à la perfection :p), mais elle m'a moins fait d'effet que les autres...
Franchement je ne m'attendais pas à ca, ce premier apperçu me laisse un peu comme si Thom avait été seul dans Radiohead se faisant étouffer par les autres (j'exagère bien sur, je laisse juste remonter mon entousiasme), c'est un peu comme si c'était la synthèse de radiohead que j'attendais...
La fin de The Eraser est aussi sublime...
(edit: je parle sans doute un peu fort, je ne suis pas dans mon état le plus terre à terre pour le moment, disons ça comme ça ^^)

Pas tout ecoute encore mais c'est vrai que c'est un.truc.de.ouf! Quand on ecoute leurs albums solos, on comprend mieux pourquoi le groupe arrive a se diversifier autant.
Et l'impression immediate est que Radiohead, malgre toutes les libertes musicales que le groupe a prises, est encore trop petit pour exprimer tous leurs talents respectifs. C'est fou!
Radiohead ne serait qu'une addition de compromis et non une effervescence collective...c'est vraiment flippant...surtout pour la concurrence :lol:

Bonjour, J'ai ecouter l'album 2-3 fois avant de me decider de l'ecouter sur mon walkman. Je me disait bon ca l'air bien mais avec un walkman ouffff s'est tu moi ou je me sens dans un autre monde. plein de détail que j'entend pas sans le walkman des sons etc.... qui le rend meilleur
Je vous conseille de l'essayer sur un walkman ou du moins avec des ecouteurs tout les tits son qu'on entend peu sans et ca fait une difference pas mal et la ouf cé cool :)

Stanley Donwood reveals a bit more about the artwork for Thom Yorke's The Eraser. As reported earlier the artwork is curently exhibitioned as 'London Views' at Lazarides in London.
Stanley: "This work was started in November 2005, whilst a record that was eventually called The Eraser was being worked on in Covent Garden, London. I didn't know that this would become the artwork that would accompany this record, although I hoped that it would, for several reasons too vague and tenuous to go into here. Which is one of the reasons why the record is called The Eraser and the artwork is called London Views.
Another intention was to exhibit the completed project at Lazarides in Greek Street, just over the Charing Cross Road in Soho. This show opened on 19th May 2006, after an opening night which passed eventfully enough.
London Views is a picture of London, an apocalyptic panorama that stretches from the Thames estuary upstream to beyond the familiar structures of the gherkin, the NatWest tower, Big Ben and Battersea Power Station.
This medievalised vision of apocalypse in England's capital city was carved on 14 pieces of linoleum with one small cutting tool. The original blocks make up a picture about twelve feet long, which has been painstakingly hand-burnished on to beautiful Japanese Kozo paper, as it has so far proved impossible to print this using a press. Thus the edition is extremely small; only 8 have been made.
Each of the 14 sections were first proofed on a huge cast-iron printing press, an Albion made in 1860, scanned, and printed on to large aluminium/polymer composite panels, which in turn were caged with diamond-pattern wire, reminiscent of the Evening Standard headline-boards that infect the capital with their own dire predictions. Each of these panels are 75 cm wide x 140 cm high.
In addition to these, the exhibition shows individual relief prints from the original linocuts printed on that Albion Press, a selection of limited edition screen prints , and a small concertina-folded booklet showing the entire panorama. For those of you that imagine the dreadful consequences of late-period Western capitalism are not irretrievably final, I have made 33 jigsaw puzzles of disaster. These will be probably the most expensive jigsaws ever retailed. I wish you luck in the reassembly of our civilisation's Golden Era.

When I first caught wind of the news that Radiohead's frontman Thom Yorke was putting out a solo album, I am sure that many of you had similar thoughts running through your head. Can Yorke actually put together a coherent album of songs, or will he go off the electronica deep end and create a collage of bleeps and bloops in the vein of Squarepusher and Auctechre? As a huge fan of Radiohead, leaning towards an obsession, I was relieved when I heard the first seconds of the opening/title track. The Eraser is a beautifully crafted song-based album that will please any followers of Mr. Yorke.
"The Eraser" opens up this Nigel Godrich-produced album with repeated piano chords over an "Idioteque" flavored beat. When the song segues into the chorus, filled with layers of Thom's vocal harmonies, I am reminded how damn talented of a vocalist he is. It seems that Yorke has finally found that perfect balance of rock/pop and electronic experimentation that supports his music rather than weighing it down. The piano continues on "Analyse," with a chord progression remarkably similar to a sped up "Like Spinning Plates." Several songs on this album do come across as Amnesiac and Kid A b-sides, not that there is anything wrong with that whatsoever.
If you've ever had the desire to hear Yorke do some human beat boxing, "The Clock" is what you've been waiting for. It is meshed with the pitter-patter of the electronic drums for a really cool, organic sounding beat. The driving rhythm and dark melodies give way to a crunchy guitar part, again showing Nigel Godrich's amazing ability to construct such incredible sonic textures. "Black Swan" features a guitar line slightly reminiscent to "I Might Be Wrong" mashed with a bit of a hip hop beat.
"Skip Divided" lets Yorke stretch his creative legs a bit, giving us one of the most experimental tracks on The Eraser. The relatively simple beat is given added substance by the distorted manipulation of him drawing a breath. This is followed by one of my favorites off the album, "Atoms For Peace." Crackles and pops form rolling beats, with nothing more than a very simple synth line and Yorke's vocals. The simplicity of the song allows Yorke to put the spotlight on his acrobatic vocals, softly leaping into his upper octaves.
The minimalism of the previous two songs is shattered by "And It Rained All Night," springing back into the darkness that comprises so much of this record. It is one of the most accessible songs on the album being about as close to a rock tune as you'll get on The Eraser. Going out with an electronica bang, Yorke concludes his debut solo album with "Cymbal Rush." Halfway through he adds some angelic backing harmonies for just a moment, then picks up the pace by tossing in a steady beat while singing in falsetto. It is a beautiful way to end the album.
I am sure that many critics and music snobs will casually listen to this album, dismissing it as nothing more than a collection of Radiohead outtakes. Sure the songs occasionally have some Radiohead similarities, but this IS a Thom Yorke album, so shouldn't that be a little expected? The Eraser allows Yorke and Godrich to dabble a bit more in electronica, which results in some breathtaking moments. As a longtime fan of all things Radiohead, Yorke has still yet to disappoint.

In the new issue of Rolling Stone (USA), there's an interview with Thom Yorke on Radiohead and The Eraser. In the actual magazine, they also talk to Colin who says he would like to work some Eraser songs into the Radiohead set. [thanks Ari]
RS: The new Radiohead songs in your live show are surprisingly straightforward. Some of them are almost like garage rock. Are you rediscovering the joys of simplicity?
Thom: "We're trying not to get too fussy, which is obviously our tendency. We don't really listen to rock music. A lot of what we listen to is techno and dub. But essentially, it's dance music, and that's feeding back into us, in a crude way."
Looking back at Kid A and Amnesiac, it's as if you had too many options in front of you and tried to use them all.
"That's always the problem. My favorite tune from that time is "How to Disappear Completely," because we didn't care how it could be seen as pretentious or anything. It just sounds glorious. What Jonny did to it is amazing.
But I like that Liars record that just came out [Drum's Not Dead], because they're using loops and stuff we've been making for ages. It's cool that there's someone besides us saying, "We're a live band, but we also do this . . ."
Describe the beginning of The Eraser.
A lot of the basic ideas were kicking around when I got all of my software on my laptop. They weren't things that would ever get to the band; they just worked in that isolated laptop space. There was no point in going to the others and saying, "Phi, do you want to try a beat on this?" Or, "Colin, do you want to play some bass?" Because the sounds and ideas were not from that sort of vibe.
What kind of vibe was it?
I would split up rhythm patterns and manipulate sounds to get to a brand new place. It was stuff that I do when I'm bored, really -- something I'd do when I'd sit in front of the television or traveling around.
It's something I've wanted to do for a long time. I wanted to work on my own. It wasn't casting aspersions on anybody. I just wanted to see what it would be like. Luckily, I happen to be in a band where nobody has a problem with that. In fact, I think there was some sense of relief, that finally I was going to do it. Rather than saying it and chickening out.
The biggest surprise on The Eraser is how clear and clean your voice is.
I kept begging Nigel to put more reverb on it. "No, I'm not doing reverb on this record." Please hide my voice. "No."
But I'm always looking for things that make me want to sing. They're not necessarily chord progressions. It can be a rhythm, with one note on it. In the last song, "Cymbal Rush," the first bit you hear is something I had for three years: one little note. I could hear the melody in there straightaway. But if you played it to anyone else without me singing it, you'd think, "What's he on about?"
There were all these random electronic doodles, but being forced by Nigel to isolate down to the best bits made me realize these were the best bits. All I could see was how clever my programming was. Suddenly I was being forced to forget all that and be the singer again. And I wasn't thinking about Radiohead. I never thought, "I should stop here. I should give this to the band." Once I made the decision to do this record, that's what I was writing for.
Were these songs written in a concentrated period?
Absolutely, except for "Cymbal Rush" -- that riff that had been around for ages -- and "The Eraser," where the piano chords are Jonny's. I recorded them on a dictaphone around his house one day. A year and a half later, I had to own up that I had sampled them, cut them into a different order and made them into a song [laughs]. "Is that alright? Sorry, Jonny."
"Harrowdown Hill" was kicking around during Hail to the Thief, but there was no way that was going to work with the band. "And It Rained All Night" has this enormously shredded-up element of "The Gloaming" [from Hail to the Thief], not that you'd ever I remember doing that in New York. I couldn't sleep one night, and it was one of those New York things, where the rain just chucks down. The rain was so loud.
"Black Swan" has this tiny, shredded segment of something that was one of the library samples we had. It was Ed and Phil doing this thing, and I sliced it into bits. The sample was 2000, but the song was 2005.
Your writing has always been intensely personal and conflicted, but because your voice is so up front on The Eraser, the words and images come through so vividly, as in "Analyse."
[Sings] "Power cuts and blackouts/Sleeping like babies." I used to live in central Oxford, on one of those historical streets, with all these houses built in the 1860s. I came home one night and for some reason, the street had a power cut. The houses were all dark, with candlelight in the windows, which is obviously how it would have been when they were built. It was beautiful.
I also like the lines in "Black Swan": "You cannot kick-start a dead horse/You just cross yourself and walk away."
[Laughs] As always, whatever psychic garbage you've got going on in your head, you end up using it. You should have seen the stuff I didn't put in. That's the shit you don't want to know about.
Your album is the first you've put out since the end of Radiohead's EMI contract. Is the XL deal for one album?
Yeah. We will only ever do that now.
Does that also go for the band's future releases?
I don't know. We haven't talked about it yet. There are a great many things we haven't talked about.
My big problem with corporate structure is this bizarre sense of loyalty you're supposed to feel -- towards what is basically a virus. It grows or dies, like any virus. And you use it for your own selfish ends. Jonny had a big problem with the fact that we didn't have any obligation -- a release date or anything. He found it difficult to work in a vacuum. Which is one of the reasons why we chose to go out on tour: "This is something we can work toward." It's human nature. Personally, I don't have that. But I can see why, if you're a group of people, you need it.
Has the band talked much about the way you want to release music in the future? There were rumors about a series of EPs.
I'm into the idea of singles and EPs. Jonny and I were never convinced about that whole thing with Kid A; "We don't release singles. This is an album, and that's it." What gets me down is the emphasis on the LP. It's one of our strengths. You can create a more exciting picture with lots of different things that you put together. But I want something that gets you on the dance floor. I always have. But we never do that.
So how do you account for the fact that, on your own, you made an album anyway?
There you go -- bloody-minded [laughs]. As it went on, this group of songs fit together quite well. It was Nigel who started it: "What if you opened with this song, then put this one and that one . . .?" Suddenly, we had the first four songs of an album.
How would you describe the status of the next Radiohead album?
We have roughs of things. We have maybe half of something so far. There's another six tunes we haven't started playing live yet. There's one called "Videotape" that's really cool. It's got lots of cyclical melodies. It's one of the first things we had. We were smashing our heads against the wall, trying to figure out what to do with it. Sometimes that drives me crazy.
What have you learned about yourself -- as a songwriter -- from making The Eraser?
I got a lot more confidence. I go through phases where I have absolutely no faith in anything I've done at all. But I was actually talking about what I was doing again. I'd ring up a friend, say "Listen to this," and play him the bass riff on "And It Rained All Night." It was things like that, little pockets of excitement that I'd missed for so long.
I was also surprised and reassured by how cool the rest of the guys were with this. When I said I was going to do it, they were like, "Yeah, please." I was a little worried when I gave them copies of it. If they hated it, that wouldn't be great. And I was worried that it would freak them out. But it didn't, which was great.
I had fun doing it as well. That is mostly what I have learned - this is fun. [Laughs] I'm very, very lucky.

Merci hunting pour ce lien, je viens de le récupérer et de le graver sur CD pour une meilleure écoute. Album magnifique, qui signe un niveau jamais atteint par Thom, sa voix, mais sa voix!Il a du passer des heures et des heures à la travailler, elle est hors du commun. On peut se laisser aller à penser que l'album de Radiohead de 2007 risque (a des chances de...) d'être absolument génial...Attendons impatiemment...

The Eraser Listening Party
Hampton Roads have an article on the listening party of The Eraser for the music press, with the unfortunate fact that the listening party actually debuted on the web earlier this week.
Adam Farrell, director of new media for XL's corporate parent Beggars Group, told asap that the leak was an inevitability that the label had accepted early on. "Given the nature of Radiohead's audience, and the history of their albums leaking, it has generally happened a lot earlier," he said. "Any label at this point expects that an album is going to get leaked. It definitely happened earlier than we had anticipated."
XL vice president of A&R Kris Chen was pleased with the event in spite of the leak. "We were aware that a lot of people wouldn't get to the hear the album very far in advance," he said, referencing the fact that the record itself was kept a secret from the industry until just three weeks ago. Chen explained that for XL, the party was a success if just because they were able to gather their choice of bloggers, writers, and record store owners to hear the fully mastered album, adding that the MP3s in circulation are poorly ripped and not indicative of the finished product's sound quality.
Farrell agreed that the listening party was successful, but conceded, "I think it would have had a lot more punch if it was truly the first time that anyone had listened to it, but my assumption is most people in the room last night had already heard the record."

Thom Yorke was interviewed by the Globe and Mail. In the interview he talks about his forthcoming album The Eraser:
"It was like we'd been let loose in the tool cupboard," Yorke said of is sessions with Godrich. It took just seven weeks to put The Eraser together - a stroll in the park compared with some of Radiohead's gruelling studio marathons.
"One of the reasons we wanted to do the project was to approach and engage with computers and not a lot else, and yet still have lots of life and energy in the music," he said. He found it ridiculously easy to generate material - "so easy, you think it must be cheating."
He often cut and pasted samples at random, not looking at the screen, then combed through the results to see what chance and the rhythm of the process had put down. The tricky thing, he said, wasn't making the sounds, but recognizing which of them were right.
“It wasn't pure chance,†he said, “because I knew basically where I wanted to end up. It's like Nigel says: If you have an idea when you start, it's a lark. If you don't, it's a nightmare. ...
“I didn't really come into it expecting to make songs. It started just with random bits and pieces. I guess I thought there would be vocals, but I was thinking in terms of using little vocal shreds, and of making them part of the tapestry, not the main thing. But as soon as we had gone through the initial sketches, it became obvious that they could be quite direct. Nigel basically dragged me kicking and screaming toward the concept of them being actual songs.â€
His resistance wasn't just about the concept. If these pieces were indeed songs, he thought, they were being born the wrong way around. “I was used to having the lyrics written beforehand,†he said. “Writing to sequences and samples is a lot harder. When you listen to them over and over again, you can't react spontaneously and differently every time. What happens is you listen once, and go away and come back later and do it again, which, practically speaking, takes too long.
“In the end, I had to go away and learn to play a lot of it myself, somehow, in order to finish the words. I had to teach myself how to play the songs I'd half-written on sequencers, where I wasn't really looking at what I was doing. It was quite a mad experience, learning it that way around.â€
He had done something like that with songs from Kid A and Amnesiac, which he said the band recorded with little thought of how to perform the songs live. Having to work up playable versions afterward forced them to look at the music from a different angle.
One song ( The Clock) began at his house, under the influence of an album of Arabian music, full of very quick, repeated guitar riffs. He made something similar, using tiny looped fragments that eventually became the ground for a gliding, droning song about losing control while pretending “that you are still in charge.†But the piece took a manic detour when he tried to finish the lyrics by playing it on guitar.
“It sounded like this mad, Johnny Cash skiffle tune,†he said, shaking his head. But another song, the bluesy Black Swan, actually gained from his handmade arrangement, which yielded some guitar bits that he and Godrich liked enough to include in the recorded version.
The album inevitably shows its computer origins, at a time when Radiohead's new music (much of which is showing up on its current tour) seems to be moving back toward a more direct rock aesthetic. The Eraser as a whole is recognizably related to the Radiohead catalogue, especially in its surface beauty and underlying sense of unease. Even when singing a love song ( Skip Divided, for example), Yorke sounds tense and vulnerable, and his lyrics imply that the difference between love and loathing may be small. As always, it's nearly impossible to separate the personal, the political and the mythological.
Harrowdown Hill has parts that sound like a love song (“I'm coming home, so dry your eyesâ€), but there's menace in the opening lines (“You will be dispensed with when you become inconvenientâ€) and other parts sound like a grim political showdown (“there are so many of us that you can't countâ€). Yorke had already written part of it when he realized it was about David Kelly, a chemical-weapons inspector in Iraq who committed suicide in 2003 after being connected to a leak of British intelligence about weapons of mass destruction. The body was found in a wood near Yorke's former school in Oxfordshire.
“The government and the Ministry of Defence were implicated in his death,†Yorke said. “They were directly responsible for outing him and that put him in a position of unbearable pressure that he couldn't deal with, and they knew they were doing it and what it would do to him. ... I've been feeling really uncomfortable about that song lately, because it was a personal tragedy, and Dr. Kelly has a family who are still grieving. But I also felt that not to write it would perhaps have been worse.â€
In the public realm, from Yorke's point of view, everything is definitely not in its right place. He has acted as a spokesman for Friends of the Earth, but when an opportunity came up to meet with British Prime Minister Tony Blair, he decided he was too disgusted with the government's policies on the environment and on the Iraq war to see any point in doing it.
“This is such a dark period in our country's history,†he said. “There are these huge elephants that we have in the room at the moment, in the West, and people are desperately trying to erase them from public consciousness.â€
His album title, The Eraser, is a reference to all those acts of determined inattention, about which Yorke has come to feel even more strongly since becoming a father of two. The Radiohead family now includes 11 children, whose demands had much to do with the band's 18-month dormancy before recordings began.
“We made a conscious decision to be good dads,†Yorke said. “We didn't see each other much at all, and it was really difficult getting back together, because you get sucked back into home life. But you have to work, you've got to carry on.
“For us, the most important thing for us now is just hanging out and having fun in the studio again, because being in the studio has been such a drag for ages. We spent too long not going anywhere. My main concern is that the idea of having to make an album doesn't become a drag. If we do something we really like, maybe we should just put it out in the interim.â€
Or not. To judge from the rapturous response to Radiohead's Toronto concert on June 7, the fans seem ready to wait for whatever this most self-directed band decides to do.

Thom Yorke aime jouer à cache-cache semble-t-il. En attendant la sortie officielle du très attendu The Eraser le 10 juillet prochain, sept radios françaises auront le privilège de diffuser dès lundi un titre du premier album solo du discret chanteur de Radiohead.
Mais pour corser la chose - Thom Yorke n’est décidément pas quelqu’un de simple - France Inter, RTL2, RTL, Le Mouv’, Ouï FM, Nova et Couleur 3 disposeront chacune d’un titre différent de l’album. De quoi amuser les plus téméraires pendant un moment.
A noter aussi que le premier single issu de The Eraser, le précieux Harrowdown Hill sera dans les bacs le 3 juillet.

“The Eraser” XL Recordings/Beggars Banquet
Un épais brouillard entoure la sortie du premier album du leader de Radiohead sans Radiohead. La situation du groupe aux six albums ? Mystérieuse comme une face B d’ “Amnesiac”... Les Oxfordiens sont repartis sur la route et jouent chaque soir quantité de nouveaux titres. Ceux-ci ne figurent pas sur “The Eraser”, que Thom a choisi de sortir sur un nouveau label. Dans les limbes du Net, l’artiste ose cette précision, quasiment de la novlangue (cocasse pour cet adorateur de George Orwell) : “Ça a été fait avec la bénédiction du groupe. Et je ne veux pas non plus entendre le mot solo...” Un disque, donc, “écrit et joué” par Yorke, “produit et arrangé” par Nigel Godrich, fidèle metteur en son du quintette depuis “OK Computer” et un peu plus encore. En clair, les sonorités sombres et électroniques de “The Eraser” seraient donc également imputables au réalisateur des derniers Paul McCartney et Air, disques pas exactement festifs eux non plus. Dans leur forme, ces 41 minutes 16 secondes tiennent la promesse faite par Yorke : oui, il s’agit bien d’un disque de chansons. Elles sont au nombre de neuf, possèdent des paroles intelligibles et aucune n’atteint une durée déraisonnable. Mais Thom Yorke reste Thom Yorke. C’est-à-dire un amateur éclairé de stridences qui s’écoute au réveil Throbbing Gristle et Autechre d’une même traite. Un terroriste musical refusant le coup des stades façon U2. Toujours, Yorke, épaulé par Jonny Greenwood, a viré vers un radicalisme déconseillé par les directeurs artistiques : cordes atonales, sons synthétiques terrifiants, abandon fréquent des guitares — et parfois aussi des refrains. “Kid A” et “Amnesiac” ont pourtant été de splendides réussites artistiques. Cela n’est pas grand-chose comparé au nouveau voyage ici proposé. Après écoute de l’opus mystérieux par une poignée de journalistes, on devinait sur le visage des confrères de terribles impressions du type y a-t-il un cimetière sur la pochette ? ou encore on dirait du Björk !... Godrich a su, il est vrai, tisser un cocon avant-gardiste soulignant au mieux les névroses du chanteur. Le coup des boîtes à rythmes tordues, des synthés d’aéroport glauque à effrayer Brian Eno lui-même, des pianos désaccordés, samplés puis recollés, l’amateur de Radiohead en avait fait son pain quotidien. Utilisant la même palette, Thom Yorke pousse plus loin encore son entreprise de description sonique des aliénations modernes. On recense à peine trois guitares. Celles-ci sont filtrées, ratiboisées, jouées sur des modes africains renversants (“The Clock”) ou comme du Robert Johnson en featuring chez Aphex Twin (le très réussi “Skip Divided” et son crescendo haletant). La batterie en bois si prisée des rockers est ici réduite au néant — un entrechoc de baguettes sert de squelette à “And It Rained All Night”, et c’est tout. Sous le bombardement de bips désincarnés, c’est également l’écriture du garçon qui a changé. Yorke ose d’étranges mélodies tournoyantes que Björk, en effet, ne renierait pas (“The Eraser”). Ailleurs, c’est une tentative plus heureuse de soul triste avec rythmique à la Marvin Gaye (“Black Swan”). Le single sera “Harrowdown Hill”, à peine plus vendeur que les autres, mais traversé d’un riff de basse sale et funky, de claviers new wave et de paroles adressées à l’être aimé (“We think the same things at the same time”). Reste la voix, cette chose qui différenciera toujours Thom Yorke du bidouilleur lambda. Livrée nue et papillonnant entre les registres, elle demeure belle à pleurer et guide l’auditeur dans la nuit.

Stanley Donwood talks to Billboard
Some quotes from Phil yesterday, today Billboard posted their chat with Stanley Donwood. Stanley talks about the Eraser artwork, the new Radiohead songs and about when Thom & Stanley received a Grammy award for the artwork of Amnesiac.
"As often happens, the concurrent work that we were doing -- Thom with the music, and me with the artwork -- seemed to intertwine," Donwood tells Billboard.com. "We realized that the 'London' stuff would fit perfectly with 'The Eraser,' which in a lot of ways seems a very English record. There was something about this immense torrent washing everything away and the futile figure holding back the wave (or failing to) that worked with the record, especially as we had both seen the flood, just when Thom was starting on the music that would eventually become 'The Eraser.'"
"The Eraser" is packaged as one large foldout card of art, in which the CD will be slipped. "The packaging was a bit of a f***er, because the picture at actual size is about 12 feet long," Donwood admits. "We both wanted to avoid using plastic, apart from the CD itself of course."
Donwood (whose real name is Dan Rickwood -- "I like to separate the person I am at home -- washing up, vacuuming, picking up the kids from school and so on -- from whoever Stanley Donwood is," he says) has been friends with Yorke since their days at the University of Exeter. The pair won the best album packaging Grammy for Radiohead's 2001 album, "Amnesiac."
"[The Grammys] didn't really work out well," Donwood says. "A lot of the things that happened on that visit to Los Angeles were utterly alien to me and quite frightening. I smoked too much evil Californian weed and got the heebie jeebies. I was too paranoid to go to the after party and I had an unpleasant run-in with some over-zealous post-Sept. 11 security guards."
Artwork from his various projects is available through Donwood's Web site, which also features some of his writings. But despite his Radiohead association, Donwood says he's never dabbled in music of his own.
"I can't read music, can't tell a guitar from a bass and haven't ever tried to play anything. It's a sort of blind spot in my life," he laments. "I mean, I suppose being a musician is vaguely equivalent to being an artist or a writer -- but much better. Music is more immediate than [visual] art or writing because it has a visceral reach and can alter your mood much more comprehensively and immediately."
As one would expect, Donwood has been given a sneak peak into some new Radiohead material, much like audience earlier this week at the band's New York shows.
"All [the songs] are good! There are a couple of songs -- 'Down Is the New Up' and 'Videotape' -- that are so beautiful. I just pray they don't f*ck them up in the studio. But as I said, I know nothing about music, so really I should keep my gob shut," he jokes. "I think the new work demonstrates a kind of freedom or release. The long-awaited happy album from Radiohead it is not, but I think there's an amount of dark humor in it. Or not."

quequ'un sais si thom a prévu de faire un live avec son album ou pourait-il les joué avec le groupe....j'ai bien l'impression que eraser va faire de serieux degat ,parce que meme s'il savent ce qu'il font je pense qu'il ne s'attende pas que eraser va tous mangé ,j'ai meme peur qu'il avale radiohead entier et qu'il ne controlerais plus rien en tous cas moi je n'est jamais enttendu une chose aussi belle que eraser. meme (kid a ) a du mal mais putain comment il a fait je me souvient avec ok computeur ca leurs a lavé le cerveau mais la c'est l'essorage....je mets 500 étoiles a thom yorke et a eraser une pur beauté.....

Hrmm je n'suis pas d'accord enfin en tout cas si on se base sur le poid des morceaux ceux d'itunes du début sont tous supérieurs (même si c'est de pas beaucoup) à ceux des dernières versions. :miam:

un flac d'un bootleg enregistré via dictaphone sonnera moins bien qu'un mp3 d'un concert soundboard^^
La premiere version a été faite à partir d'une copie promo et un systeme anti copie a coupé un certain nombre de fréquences.
ce qui n'est pas le cas ici.
Donc le son est objectivement de meilleure qualité.

Many people find Thom Yorke disturbing. And Thom Yorke seems to be one of them. On his excellent surprise solo album, The Eraser, he creeps himself out constantly, muttering about heartbreak amid waves of electronic keyboards. He doesn't have the rest of Radiohead to buoy him up -- it's just a man and his laptop, with hardly any guitar. Yorke comes on as a Lieutenant Columbo of the psyche, rumpled and haggard, who always has just one more question. On The Eraser, he has some particularly barbed ones. "Are you only being nice because you want something?" he asks in the opening title tune. "Be careful how you respond/You might end up in this song." Like the rest of the album, it's intensely beautiful, yet it explores the kind of emotional turmoil that makes the angst of OK Computer or The Bends sound like kid stuff.
Yorke recorded The Eraser with Nigel Godrich and kept it a secret until Radiohead hit the road, so nobody would wonder if they were splitting up. The album could hardly sound more different from the superb new uptempo songs Radiohead are debuting on their current tour. Live, Radiohead are killing crowds with the Velvets-riffing "Arpeggi" and "Bodysnatchers," or the Run-DMC tribute "15 Step," or the trimly rocked-out "Bangers 'n' Mash," which is even cooler than the classic Peter Sellers/Sophia Loren duet of the same name. But The Eraser is full of glitchy electro ballads, in the style of Kid A tracks like "Morning Bell" and "How to Disappear Completely." The structures are tighter than in Radiohead songs, centered on the vocals -- fans hoping for ten-minute ambient dub doodles will be disappointed. Yorke's voice has never sounded so fragile; his melodies have never sounded so mournful. In a word, he sounds alone. And it wears him out.
For the most part, these are sad love songs, maybe even breakup songs. They're pretty straightforward in the lyrics department, detailing a crumbling relationship full of bruises that won't heal. As Yorke puts it in "Black Swan," "You cannot kick-start a dead horse/You just cross yourself and walk away." Usually, when the word "you" comes up in a Radiohead song, it's aimed at some faceless symbol of our sick society. But in knockout tunes like "Atoms for Peace," "The Eraser" and "The Clock," Yorke seems to address an individual, somebody with whom he shares a complex emotional history. There's no percentage trying to read autobiography into Yorke's songs, or anybody else's -- the question isn't whether they're about him, it's whether they're about you. So let's just say he sounds like he knows what he's talking about. You might have to go back to Side Two of David Bowie's Low to hear a guy delve so deep inside the well of synth-pop loneliness.
"And It Rained All Night" is a typical highlight -- burbling synths, eerie percussion clicks, Eighties computer-game bleeps. And Yorke sings it exactly like Mick Jagger, which is weird. "The Eraser" has a broken stop-start piano sample, while Yorke vows, "The more you try to erase me/The more that I appear." "Black Swan" has a growling guitar line and snarling vocals, reminiscent of "I Might Be Wrong." But the peak is "Atoms for Peace," where Matmos-like synth static crackles as Yorke tries to decide whether to save his lover from herself or save her from him. No doubt these would have made excellent Radiohead songs. The Eraser is full of moments when you wait for the band to kick in, and it doesn't happen. It reminds you how much Radiohead thrive on their sense of collective creation -- even at their most downbeat, their camaraderie gives off a life-affirming energy. Yet these aren't Radiohead songs, or demos for Radiohead songs. They're something different, something we haven't heard before. Lieutenant Yorke is asking new questions, looking for clues to the same old mystery: how to appear, incompletely.

The Eraser played in full on Triple J
Australian radio station Triple J are going to play The Eraser in full this Sunday the 2nd July at 6pm.
And as reported earlier, Dave Fanning played 3 and a bit of tracks from the album on 2FM Ireland. Listeners were texting in their opinions throughout the show and the response was mainly negative. Dave Fanning wondered if we'd "all think it's great by September!". However a female caller towards the end of the show said she had downloaded the album and thought it was great and easy to listen to but people were not to expect it to sound like Radiohead, she also said she would be buying it when it's released. He finished the show playing about a minute of "Cymbal Rush" to which he read out a text from a listener claiming they would rather "give birth to a dinosaur than listen to that!". Well, here we are. July 10th - the official date of the release of Thom Yorke's The Eraser. We can now add most of the European countries to the list. North America is next tomorrow. Here's another batch of reviews for you to read.
NME: Like 'Kid A', 'The Eraser' will split Radiohead fans. Some will mourn its lack of viscera; its coldness; its reluctance to rock. But it's yet another revealing glimpse into Yorke's cryptic inner-world, and one that has the courage not to hide its political message in code. 'Kid B'? Yeah, OK - but Radiohead will never make another album like it, and as a twin, it's every bit the equal.
The Observer: Curiously for a singer, it's the music rather than the singing that stands out on The Eraser. Yorke has a fluent and unexpectedly convincing way with a laptop, coaxing faux-analogue sonar bloops, crackles and snaps out of digital gear. There are things that sound like pianos, drumsticks clacking; a nice bit of folktronica on 'Black Swan'. Often you could do without the topnote of his vocals, which weigh this progressive project down to the whooshy miasmic angst of Radiohead like a ball and chain. 'Skip Divided' is the low point, with its atonal mithering; 'The Clock', 'And It Rained All Night' and 'Atoms for Peace' are the high points, where sounds and singing pull in the same direction. A qualified success.
Megastar: The subject matter may be grim, the sound cold and clinical, but The Eraser is life affirming and warm. Nurtured as Yorke's project, it's melodic, intense, intimate and very listenable. Like the soundtrack to a Bauhaus-influenced sci-fi film, and with Radiohead's time at label EMI over, welcome to the future of your favourite band.
Treble: I would venture to guess even Richard D. James is proud that his Warp Records cohorts can inspire one of our generation's greatest singer/songwriters to create a soundtrack to the modern age with soulful melodies, and memories that will resonate with the listener long after the song fades.
Pitchfork: The word 'gray' will be used to describe The Eraser, and with good reason-- unless you're predisposed to loving everything Yorke sets his voice against, you mind fight this an oppressively dreary affair. My totally catty suggestion: Don't bother with this unless you've already worn out the grooves on Jonny Greenwood's much less-heralded but completely brilliant Bodysong soundtrack. Or maybe, if you're really jonseing, set up two stereos and play both solo records at once, Zaireeka-style. I wouldn't be surprised at all if that worked.
Newsday: Between "The Eraser" and some of the new Radiohead songs the band revealed on its recent tour, it seems like Yorke is interested in revitalizing dance music these days, the way "The Bends" invigorated rock.
Mansized: The Eraser is a return to the haunting electro soundscapes found on Radiohead's Kid A and Amnesiac albums - music that crossed frontiers, kicked down doors of perception and challenged other musicians to think differently. However, what was fresh and groundbreaking back then isn’t necessarily so today.
TIME Magazine: The Eraser isn't--but by distilling Radiohead into something intimate, it may point the way toward greatness to come.
Sun Times: I went in knowing this would mainly be an electronic disc, augmented primarily by the artist's stately piano -- and perhaps the spare, moody soundscapes finally enabled me to hear the charms of his vocals. Either that or he just wore me down. In any case, this is the disc where I learned to stop worrying and love the twisted little gnome.
Entertainment Weekly: Think Radiohead are too damn cheery? Try frontman Thom Yorke's solo album excerpt: The arrangements are equally forbidding, laptop soundscapes with snippets of more traditional instrumentation (guitars, piano), and the overall mood is austere and claustrophobic, even when compared with Radiohead at their most austere and claustrophobic (Kid A, for starters). Whereas Radiohead pop tension with moments of grandeur, The Eraser cultivates uneasiness with snaky melodies that never mate it to roof-raising chorus....It demonstrates that Yorke needs Radiohead as much as it needs him to transform anxiety into rock arias of enduring beauty and power.

Arctic Monkeys... Ah là là, mais bon ne jugeons pas. J'avoue que je tombe à la renverse en entendant les animateurs et animatrices de Ouï.fm encenser leurs chansons que je trouve à peine mélodiques. Thom Yorke suit sa route un point c'est tout. La critique que j'ai lue plus haut semble venir d'un hostile invétéré, encore un nostalgique d'OK Computer. J'ai lu que Kid A était un sommet aride, aride de quoi ? Je ne trouve pas très pertinent l'idée de donner la plume à des mecs qui sont frigides à leur musique. Tiens je vais prendre la mienne (de plume) et je vais dire ce que je pense d'Evanescence, de Sinik et du dernier Laurent Voulzy ! Merde !

:( Et Jelstream sera pas dispo en cd???...olala ça me fais chier moi, j'ai pas la thune pour une platine vinile, puis même si ça tombe au japon il vont encore se taper un cd collector de la mort et il faudra encore acheter pour avoir toutes les b-sides sur un seul cd (parce que bien sur le cd sortira 3 ou 4 mois après nous...) enfin bref...je sais pas s'il faut prendre cette multiplication d'editions comme un cadeau pour les fans, ou alors un simple coup marketing, en tout cas la frontiére me semble trés faible.

Apparament il sagirait de "cymbal rush" joué au HENRY ROLLINS...ayant une connexion assez merdique en ce moment (ça fait 10 mn que je telecharge et j'en suit qu'à 6% :glob: ) je ne peux pas encore vous dire si c'est le bon, mais d'aprés le mec qui l'a fait, ce n'est pas en trés bonne qualité...

The Eraser shortlisted for Mercury prize
The nominations for this year's Nationwide Mercury Music Prize have been revealed this morning (July 18). The shortlist includes Thom Yorke's The Eraser.
At a small ceremony at the Royal Commonwealth Club in London, Jools Holland announced the 12 albums that will battle it out for this year's prize, NME reports. The nominations are:
Arctic Monkeys - 'Whatever People Say I Am That's What I'm Not' Isobel Campbell and Mark Lanegan - 'Ballad Of The Broken Seas' Editors - 'In The Back Room' Guillemots - 'Through The Windowpane' Richard Hawley - 'Coles Corner' Hot Chip - 'The Warning' Muse - 'Black Holes & Revelations' Zoe Rahman - 'Melting Pot' Lou Rhodes - 'Beloved One' Scritti Politti - 'White Bread Black Beer' Sway - 'This Is My Demo' Thom Yorke - 'The Eraser'
Revealing this year's nominees, chair of judges Simon Frith hailed the artists for reflecting contemporary life. "Above all, this year's shortlist for the Nationwide Mercury Prize is about the art of the songwriter," he said. "If you want to know what life is like in Britain today, listen to the country's musicians!"
The overall winner of the £20,000 prize will be announced on September 5. Last year's prize was won by Antony & the Johnsons for the album 'I Am A Bird Now'. [thanks Doug]

La version de Harrowdown hill est sympa bien qu'un peu inutile. Je prefere la version album...Mais l'intro tue.
Les 2 b sides ont l'air géniales mais je vais les écouter plusieurs fois avant de me faire un avis définitif.

Je l'ai bien sûr acheté dès sa sortie.
J'adore Black Swan et The eraser, mais j'aime beaucoup cet album, que je juge un ton au dessous de Radiohead, ce qui est légitime, mais ça reste très bon.
Thom Yorke a eu le courage de se risquer sur un projet dont le résultat n'était pas garanti. Et avec brio une nouvelle fois, sans rien faire de commercial !

Merci. Pas mal, Analyse est sympa, en revanche chui pas un grand fan de Skip divided. Les morceaux sont de bases assez depouilles, s'il continue comme ca, il va finir par les faire a capella :lol:

du coup j'ai mixé la version lossless de kcrw (convertie en .ac3 448kbps) avec un pour MPEG-2 choppé ya un moment aussi sur DIME

Comme ils utilisent une boîte à rythmes qui n'a pas tendance à ralentir ou à accélerer, je trouve ça normal,enfin c'est mon avis!

L'information est à prendre au conditionnel(car elle n'a pas été confirmée officiellement) mais il semblerait que la sortie d'un second single extrait de The eraser soit prévue. Il s'agirait apparement de Analyse.
Un Dj de Radio 2 aurait même annoncé la sortie du single pour le 9 octobre.
Si la nouvelle se confirme, nous pourrons donc profiter prochainement de nouvelles b sides et pourquoi pas d'une vidéo.

J'adore radiohead depuis bien longtemps, et j'ai écouté en boucle the eraser, et pourtant j'adore aussi Muse et j'apprécie Arctic monkeys tout comme bcp d'autres groupe... suis-je normal ?
bah je suis persuadé que oui mais à en lire beaucoup d'entre vous, on n'a pas droit d'aimer plusieurs artistes/groupes en meme temps, comme si on avait pas le temps, comme si il fallait choisir un groupe et haïr le reste.
Je vous l'accorde, les talents de thom yorke et de matthew bellamy sont differents, mais pourquoi s'obliger à en choisir un seul quand on peut apprécier les 2 ?
Je viens régulierement sur ce site, et voir dans une actualité "Pour se consoler, on peut se dire que le groupe Muse a également perdu", ca donne pas envie de revenir. Etre aussi fermer pour des fans de radiohead, j'ai du mal a l'imaginer.
Apres vous pouvez ne pas aimer le succès commercial de Muse, mais bon c'est pas eux qui le choisissent, leur changement de style au fil des albums le prouve. (tiens mais ca me rappelle un certain groupe ca..)

Oula...moi je n'aime pas artic monkeys pour plusieurs raison dont la principale c'est qu'il sagit encore d'un de ces groupe mis en avant, erigé en idole par toute la mouvance "hype" qui se cherche des heros tous les 6 mois, car musicalement, ok c'est peut-être efficace mais est-ce un groupe phare, un groupe qui apporte quelque chose à la musique? non...Ils sont juste le reflect d'une scene actuelle qui tend à vouloir revivre un age d'or de la musique dite "rock" (70's) sans vraiment y apporter quelque chose de valable (il suffit de mettre MTV2 pour s'en convaincre...essayer de differencier les groupes, c'est vraiment pas evident...).
Etre aussi fermer pour des fans de radiohead, j'ai du mal a l'imaginer.
Je crois qu'il suffit d'aller dans la partie "VOUS ECOUTEZ QUOI ?" pour se rendre compte que la majeur partie des gens ici sont trés ouvert musicalement...enfin je suis pas la depuis longtemps mais je ne crois pas me tromper là-dessus!
Quand a Muse, je laisse d'autres repondre à ce sujet (perso je n'aime pas, et ce n'est pas faute d'avoir essayer...mais je ne trouve ça pas transcandant, et trés surestimé, malgrés un ou deux morceaux vraiment bien!)

j'aime les vrais musiciens capable de varier des arrangements et des set list.

je suis désolé mais les etincelles sur starlight honnetement ça me fait de la peine.

j'ai la mémoire qui flanche
et non je n'ecoute pas que radiohead :)

Faut arreter, la remarque sur Muse c'était pour rigoler un peu.
Et ce n'est pas parce que je n'aime pas ce groupe en particulier que je suis monomaniaque et que j'écoute kid A en boucle toute la journée.
Radiohead est loin d'occuper la majorité de mon temps d'écoute musicale d'ailleurs.

Mi octobre je pense.
Thom avait confié à un magazine qu'il avait enregistré des titres acoustiques pour the eraser mais qu'ils n'avaient pas été inclus dans l'album par souçis de cohérence.
Peut être qu'on va avoir le droit à True love waits et Follow me around :love:

Autant la version étendu de "Harrowdown Hill" m'avait fait triper mais en trouvant "Drunkk Machine" et "Jetstream" très faible. Et bien les 2 bsides d'analyse sont encore plus faibles, à mon humble avis.
"A rat's nest" n'a rien vraiment de génial... Et même après plusieurs écoutes, je me demande si ca serait pas mieux si on l'écoutait à l'envers, vu que la plupart des sons semblent être des 'reverse'.
Et iluvya... pas mieux.
Franchement j'adore l'album eraser, mais les face b qu'on nous sort sont décevantes...

Iluvya...dans ce morceau il y a une phrase en Français, j'entends "le bestiaire est née de la rue" ou encore "Les prisonniers de la rue".
Bon je sais ça n'a pas grande importance mais je voulais juste savoir ce que chacun entend, ça peut être marrent!

:think: Je viens d'écouter les nouvelles B-Sides : A Rat's Nest est très psychédélique mais assez jolie et pas désagréable du tout, elle me fait vraiment penser à LSP (en version studio bien entendu), sinon Iluvya est vraiment tripante, on s'amuse beaucoup au début mais ça fatigue au bout d'un moment perso...

Haa merci hunting android pour ce reverse de la partie de piano !
Dommage que le morceau soit pas entier, car vers la fin je pense qu'il y a des voix, des choeurs, inversés.
Le remix d'Ectorleressor en donne une bonne idée aussi.
Mais ce ne me suffit pas, même en le réécoutant plusieurs fois, à me faire apprécier Rasts Nest. je sais pas... J'accroche pas vraiment ce titre, dommage.

c'est juste la video qui la avec le cd, pasque sur oink ya pas le droit a la video (j'ai uppé amnesiac pinkpop edition la bas et je me suis prit un warning :aie:)
en plus j'ai pas sous la souris mais il me semble que le .wmv qu'on a depuis un certain temps est de meilleure qualité que le .mov du cd.

Thom Yorke remixé
Déjà auteur du remix du morceau de Radiohead Myxomatosis, présent sur le mini-album Com Lag, le jeune et talentueux Cristian Vogel a annoncé sur son journal tenu sur last.fm qu’il vient d’achever deux versions du titre Black Swan composé par Thom Yorke.
Vogel déclare : « J’ai fait deux versions, une qui comprend ses prises de voix intégrales, assez soft et mélodique et l’autre basée uniquement sur sa ligne de basse et les mots « fucked up » qui donne un remix ludique et très electro."
De son côté Jonny Greenwood vient d’être nommé compositeur de l’année par les auditeurs de Radio 3 pour son morceau Popcorn Superheit Receiver, inspiré des cordes du compositeur Penderecki – Greenwood est compositeur résident à la BBC depuis 2004.

c'est vrai que platonique est pas vraiment le mot que j'aurai employé. Perso disons que j'sentais qu'y avait du potentiel mais qu'il me manquait un petit truc qui viendrait surement avec le temps.... maintenant je suis complètement accro. je trouve cet album d'une fraicheur incomparable avec les sorties de ces dernières années...
Radiohead m'aura permis d'aprendre à ecouter la musique d'une facon plus intelligente, en sachant me rendre compte du potentiel d'un morceau ou d'un album.Au depart quand j'écoutais des morceaux comme the gloaming , kid a ou fake plastic trees je les zappait direct.Après les avoir entendu en live j'ai appris à les redecouvrir et je suis totalement accro.Je suis beaucoup plus ouvert désormais.. Maintenant toutes les musiques me sont accessibles... :jap:

Pareil pour moi mais c'est vrai qu'il y a quand même certains morceaux qui sont beaucoup plus accessible rapidement que d'autres (par exemple black swan comparé à skip divided)... :tidimboum:

Personnellement, j'ai tout de suite accroché...dés les premières notes de "the eraser" j'étais sous le charme...puis Cymbal rush par exemple est devenu très tôt l'un de mes morceaux préféré tous genre et musiques confondus!

moi je trouve pas que skip divided soit difficile d'accès c'est la + originale mais elle m'a tt de suite plu.
Sinon j'aime aussi beaucoup "the clock" mais moins "black swan."

Moi je crois que Cymbal Rush reste THE titre de l'album... mais bon si c'est comme pour Radiohead, je ne dirais peut être plus la même chose dans un an. D'ailleurs j'ai reécouté un live de radiohead à londres d'antologie et j'ai pris une claque incroyable sur myxomatosis que je n'aimais pas trop avant. je crois même que sur ce live c'est la meilleure... monstrueuse !!

Sur The Drunkk Machine Thom greffe à sa voix des sons dérivés du triumvirat Squarepusher/Kid 606/Autechre. Restent Jetstream, comptine electronica aux voix fractionnées et haletantes, sur laquelle seul un mille-pattes pourrait danser et Iluvya – message crypté à décomposer en I love You –, un trafic radio surabondant de beats hip hop à la Dizzee Rascal, comme passés dans l’accélérateur de particules de Jonny Greenwood. En bonus, une version longue et reformatée du single Harrowdown Hill et sa vidéo qui ouvre le champ au paysage mental de Yorke et à ses phobies environnementales.

oui a part que thom a trituré des accords de piano de greenwood en les plaçant dans n'importe quel ordre
donc je ne pense pas que jonny ait vraiment influencé ce morceau
par contre l'essence de radiohead c'est thom et jonny ça c'est sur

je pensais comme guillome : thom a pris des accords au hasard et les a séquencé avec un vocoder en créant lui même la suite d'accords / alors ça sonnera difficilement jonny greenwood :spamafote: c'est juste que c'est jonny qui jouait les accords quoi, rien d'épatant surtout que ce sont des accords plutot simples.
